Respiratory Therapy Programs
Awarding an Associate Degree
with a Baccalaureate Option
Preface
The Roster was prepared by the American College of Respiratory Therapy Education (ACRTE) to assist students in selecting a respiratory therapy program. The roster also serves as a communication tool for existing and developing baccalaureate and graduate respiratory therapy programs. The reader is encouraged to visit program web sites and to contact each program directly for more information. New or existing programs not included on the roster should contact the Chair of the ACRTE Steering Committee with program information. Suggestions to improve the roster are welcome. An AARC approved white paper from the ACRTE Steering Committee, “Development of Baccalaureate and Graduate Degrees in Respiratory Care,” can be found using the link: http://www.aarc.org/resources/bacc_edu/index.asp. The AARC also issued a position statement in April of 2013 encouraging the development of baccalaureate and graduate respiratory therapy programs by academic institutions - "Development of Baccalaureate and Graduate Education Degrees."
Associate Degree in Respiratory Therapy
with a Baccalaureate Degree Option
Associate Degree Programs have a curriculum designed to provide students who possess no prior competence in respiratory care, with the knowledge and clinical skills required to function competently as a registry-eligible respiratory therapist. Conferral of the associate degree requires completion of the academic prerequisites to become a registry-eligible respiratory therapist. Programs that also offer associate to baccalaureate (ASRT to BSRT) degree advancement track have an additional “ASRT to BSRT” designation for program type. Associate programs which also offer a CoARC accredited polysomnography program option are so indicated under program type.
